Highlight: Almost 150 people have been registered in Aligarh’s Memdi Village for being part of cow’s funeral.
On Saturday, the case was filed against 25 known and 125 unknown people under the sections 269 (act likely to spread infection) and 188 (disobedience) of the IPC and section 3 of the Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897, after the video clip of the incident went viral via social media platforms.
The case includes more than 100 women.
Anil Kumar, Civil Lines circle officer stated that the cow was ill from the past few days and found dead in front of the general store which is own by Dinesh Chandra Sharma.
As the cow is denoted as ‘holy animal’, It is common in the village to conduct the last rites of the cow with a tribute honors.
The general store owner, Sharma stated, “If people are willing to take part in the funeral on their own, how I can stop them? There s no wrong in that and I am ready to face any action.”
For the past many years, the cow was staying in the village and it is our responsibility to give t proper funeral for it, the local villagers stated.
The police officers stated that who gathered for the funeral of cow and going through the streets had denied all social distancing guidelines as none of them were wearing face masks as well.
