Chennai Police Arrested 8 Ethiopian Nationals For Violation Of Visa Norms

The Chennai city police have arrested eight Ethiopian nationals being involved in religious activities and for violating provisions of the Foreigners Act, 1946.

Police said the foreign nationals were staying in a mosque in Mannady within a few meters of the Muthialpet police station. They were rounded up by police officers and subjected to Coronavirus testing and resulted negative for it, soon they were produced before a judicial magistrate and put up in Central Prison in Puzhal in North Chennai.

They came on medical visas and wallowed in religious activities conflicting to the provisions of the Foreigners Act,” a senior officer said.

The outsiders were booked under Section 269 (Negligently doing any act known to be likely to spread infection), 188 (Disobedience to an order lawfully promulgated by public servant), 271 (Knowingly defy any quarantine rule) of IPC and provisions of the Epidemic Diseases Act, National Disaster Management Act, T.N. Public Health Act and Foreigners Act.

Whose fault is this?

The immigrants who just came to our country get stuck due to national wide lockdown or Government of India for immediate lockdown with no proper planning.
