All of us thought women are safe when they are at home. But unfortunately 2020 has made sure that the new normal online meetings, exams and classes are also not safe. Female students are sent unsecured messages from their teachers.
Few students have taken screenshots and posted the messages sent by their invigilators on social media. These invigilators are hired through some third party agents. These invigilators have gone to the extend where they have stalked the students social media accounts and send them messages
Some of the students have shared a few of their instances on Twitter and talked about how insecure they are even at home.
This is what online exams have come to in the prestigious NMIMS. Absolutely disgusting behaviour by so called proctors who students cannot even see on screen. Proctors have gone to the extent of asking for social media handles and messaging students on WhatsApp. pic.twitter.com/42DGqNtHqy

Grateful for the support I have received from friends, family and people all over the internet.
Know that if you’re being wronged, you’re not alone.
THIS IS A BREACH OF PRIVACY.

⚠️ONLINE HARASSMENT⚠️
NMIMS UNIVERSITY INDIA via METTL for exams
This is a thread to spread awareness about how a university hired a 3rd party software and has now brought the PRIVACY of FEMALE students at RISK. Proctors are hired with NO background CHECKS. #privacy breached pic.twitter.com/NHX9FQ2NWS— Min Dynasty⁷•evermore¹³ (@bangswiftpv) January 7, 2021
A particular college looked at the tweets which went viral and asked the students to remove the pictures/screenshots from their twitter accounts. And claimed that they are looking into this issue.
We request you to share details of the incident with us, via Direct Message. We will look into this and take legal action.

But it is against University rules to click pictures of exam screens and share them in the public domain, so we urge you to take them down. We assure you that we will work towards resolving this at the earliest.

This has created some fundamental outrange on social media. While some people criticised the institutions on compromising their students’ privacy while others denied and told that women are not safe in their own houses.
Absolutely no one is aware of what's happening on the other side of the screen while students sit and give exams for over 2 hours. Not the students, not the college and as far as we know neither mettl.

Please amplify this. This is so disgusting. Moreover the college's response to the incident is 🤢 if anyone can help this person , please reach out. https://t.co/u5Ejuv3MCp

This is really pathetic! The harassment is not limited only to the physical world now. These so called proctors should be punished for their offence and a strict action must be taken against them. https://t.co/nZhE6xLu9j

Although there are so many ways to stop this issue. People are finding different ways of harassment. It used to happen everywhere be it in school, college, buses, or any public place. But now it is happening online and in their respective houses.
It’s high time for the Government to take appropriate measures on the culprit and make sure there is safety for women and justice for the victim.
