Priyanka Chopra creating a flush and fury of memes with her attire in Met Gala 2019 at New York last week.
Howrah district club cell convenor, Priyanka Sharma from Bharatiya Janata Party’s youth wing knows as Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) had photoshopped the image of Priyanka Chopra and replaced it with the Chief Minister of West Bengal – Mamata Banerjee.
A complaint was filed by TMC leader Vibhas Hazra at Dasnagar police station a day later. He has described it as a “most awful post” an insult to the people of West Bengal.
Following his complaint, the police had arrested Priyanka Sharma on 10th of May and have remanded her to judicial custody for 14 days.
Following the arrest, several workers from BJP staged protested and claimed that TMC was curbing the freedom of expression.
The state administration has also come under heavy criticism from netizens who slammed the administration for slapping a case for merely poking fun at the Chief Minister.

Vice president of BJYM, Mr Anand Rai clarified that the party was not behind the photoshopped image and it was personally done by Priyanka Shama and shared on her facebook page. He allegedly that TMC is trying to gain political mileage from this incident.
BJP workers say that this is not the first time that the Mamata Banerjee government is trying to curb the freedom of speech.
In an earlier incident, right after the Trinamool Congress came to power in 2011, a professor from Jadavpur University Mr Ambikesh Mahapatra was jailed for sharing a cartoon on the TMC.
An author named Tina Biswas was allegedly harassed during her book launch in Kolkatta for writing a novel which was critical of TMC supremo.
A man from Tripura was arrested last year for allegedly making demeaning remarks on social media against CM.
CM Mamata Banerjee has often accused the BJP led government at the Centre of being intolerant and crushing dissent but the situation seems to be the same at her home turf as well. So BJP is now turning up the heat on TMC to ensure it takes advantage of this situation.
With the last 2 phases of Election in full throttle mode. It has to be noted that several leaders from both the parties are making remarks every other day led by PM Narendra Modi and CM Mamata Banerjee themselves.
